On May 5th, I got the text from the E family at 9:30am telling me that she was headed to the hospital. This was her 3rd baby and she let me know she had labored for quite some time with the other two. By 2:30pm I headed up there to make sure I got there with plenty of time to capture some of those special moments of the couple before all of the craziness started. When I arrived at the hospital, they had just broke her water so I knew things were going to start pretty quickly. As a photographer, I want to make sure I stay out of the way like a fly on the wall. I will quietly follow you and take the shots without getting in the way. It's like I am not even there. I have two little girls myself and had two very different deliveries. Having the opportunity to witness another woman's birth is simply amazing. The very first birth I witnessed was that of my niece being born. I had no kids at this point, so every little thing was new to me and I couldn't have put into words how it must have been. I just remember thinking to myself "Wow! She just did that!". Now, after having my girls, it is a lot different. I can sympathize with the moms and it almost feels like I am there going through all of the stages of labor. It makes me want to cry for you, with you, and shed those happy tears that it is over and you now have your beautiful little baby! It is the most AMAZING experience and being able to provide you with these photos after is also amazing. For the E family, it didn't take long once I got there for things to progress and active labor to begin. This couple's chemistry was awesome to witness and capture. He was there through every contraction, breathing with her, and helping her keep control. By 5:00 pm she was ready to get her baby boy out. She started pushing at 5:14 pm and delivered him by 5:20 pm. How amazing is that?! You go mom! Another plus in having a photographer present is that all of the photos are time stamped. =) While you are doing all the hard work having your baby I am there to document it all, the emotions, the time, the chaotic craziness that happens, and whether it takes minutes or hours. Congratulations to the E family! You DID it! Bringing in your 3rd child!
